The Blue Hyacinth Macaw





Introduction


Many people are familiar with parrots and The Blue Hyacinth Macaw in pet stores. The Blue Hyacinth Macaw is a blue bird. The largest species of macaw, grow to at least 40 inches (1m long). The Blue Hyacinth Macaw survives today in three known places that never connect. Southern Brazil, Eastern Bolivia and Northeastern Paraguay. It is difficult to estimate, some people believe that their are more then 100,000 Hyacinth Macaws before the arrival of the Amerindians in South America. In the year,1990 The wild population was estimated to be 2,500 Hyacinth Macaws.




Where do they live?


The Hyacinth Macaws live in tropical rain forests and palm swamps. It's habitat varies throughout its range. The rain forests tress are not thick at the top and they break easily. The Macaws make nests in holes of the trees.





Why is it endangered?

Of 45 of parrots in central and in South America, 45 are endangered of extinction. All 18 Macaws are threatened. The reason that they are endangered because of pet trade. The Macaw is vulnerable (easy) to capture and habitat destruction. In 1980's people have been saying that over 10000 macaws were taken from the wild. The tress have been cut down and they destroyed the macaws nests, which not only removes the generation of the macaws but destroys the nests site.


Question

It is often people's love of animals that causes them to desire exotic animal pets. What can be done to educate pet owners about the impacts of wild-caught birds and other animals?



I think I would just tell them about the impacts and tell other people.
